Solution

Accordion Image

Use This

  • Sterile saline solution (available at our studio)

  • Nothing homemade: DIY saltwater is often too harsh, not sterile, and slows down healing

Avoid This

  • DIY saltwater

  • No essential oils.

  • Ask us if you’re unsure.
That’s literally what we’re here for.

Healing

What’s Normal

  • Swelling, slight bleeding, itching,
    crust=normal in early days.

  • Piercings often appear healed on the outside but stay open inside

  • Stay patient and clean.

  • Keep jewelry in unless replaced with medical-grade plastic (we can do that).

  • Infection suspicion?
    Come in immediately.
We’ll help or refer you to a doctor.

What to Avoid

  • Alcohol, iodine, harsh soaps, and creams.

  • Cosmetic products around the piercing.

  • Pools, lakes, saunas, hot tubs–non-sterile water=risk.

  • Oral sex or contact with body fluids during healing.

  • Over-cleaning and DIY experiments.

  • Drugs and alcohol–your body heals better when you let it.

Jewelry Tips

  • Leave jewelry in until fully healed

  • Don’t change it unless necessary–we can help.

  • Check ends regularly–always with clean hands.

  • Pools, lakes, saunas, hot tubs–non-sterile water=risk.

  • Want to remove it? Keep cleaning until the wound is closed.

  • Or just come by–we’ll take care of it.

OUTER PIERCINGS Clean hands. Clean piercing.

  • Always wash your hands thoroughly with soap before touching your piercing
  • 2–3x daily: apply saline, let it sit for 30–60 seconds
  • Clean with a disposable tissue or cotton swab–no dry wipes, no rubbing
  • For buildup: use a sterile saline compress and rinse gently

SURFACE PIERCINGS Stay pretty longer–with care.

  • Surface anchors need constant attention
  • Build-up under the jewelry top can cause irritation and poor healing
  • Rinse regularly with saline or clean gently in the shower
  • No makeup on or around the piercing–ever
  • Even with great care, these piercings don’t last forever. That’s normal–and okay

ORAL AREA Your mouth is open. So is your wound.

  • After piercing: only drink water
  • Wait at least 2 hours before eating, sweets, or smoking
  • Rinse 2× daily with mild mouthwash
  • Rinse with water after eating
  • No sushi, blue cheese, spicy food, or ultra-hot drinks–for 3 weeks
  • Avoid whitening products, harsh mouthwash, and gritty toothpasteAvoid whitening products, harsh mouthwash, and gritty toothpaste
  • No kissing. No oral sex.No kissing. No oral sex.
  • Other people’s saliva = infection riskOther people’s saliva = infection risk
  • Smoking? As little as possible–especially early on

NIPPLE / NAVEL Body in motion. Piercing in protection.

  • Avoid friction – especially during sports.
  • Wear close-fitting cotton clothing, even at night.
  • No bathing, no swimming – for about three months.
  • An open wound plus unclean water? Not a good idea.
  • A shower is enough. Your body will do the rest.

INTIMATE Blood is fine. Bacteria is not.

  • Light bleeding in the first few days is normal – nothing to worry about.
  • More importantly: clean hands. Every time before you touch the area.
  • No contact with bodily fluids – not even in committed relationships.
  • Saliva, semen, vaginal secretions: high bacterial load, high risk.
  • No pulling, no jerky movements – fresh piercings tear easily.
  • Sex? Sure. But protected: with fresh condoms on toys and water-based lubricant.
  • After sex: briefly rinse with saline solution. Done.
